WLS New Music Premiere ” D Lesly – Careless Whisper “

Born in the Dominican Republic on August 13, D’lesly was always musically inclined. Coming from a family of musicians, music was not only a hobby but a lifestyle. His father, well known musician and singer, Wilfrido Lora, better known to the public as “Chiqui” was a piano player, guitar player, bass player, and an extremely talented singer who played with many artists in the ranks of Wilfrido Vargas, Fernandito Villalona, Johnny Ventura and many more.
When he was 5, his family migrated from DR and found a home in the borough of the Bronx. He began to play piano at that age. It came natural to him, without ever having any piano lessons and eventually he started to become more familiar as his father helped him master it.
D’lesly never grew up listening to Bachata. Many of his music influences come from Michael Jackson, Luis Miguel, Jose Jose and as many would say, “old school” music. Because all that was heard around his home was R&B and bolero inspired music, Bachata was never considered a career path until he heard a song called “Hoja En Blanco” sang by bachata duo Monchy & Alexandra. Following his sudden interest in this song, which was a different mixture of sounds not heard in traditional bachata music, he then heard a group called “Aventura”. What fascinated him the most was how a group of four young guys sang bachata well, mixed R&B and gave it a new urban sound. Not to mention the fact that they assorted both Spanish and English together, which was something he was accustomed to as he was raised in the Bronx. By the age of 17, D’lesly and his friend began a group called “Unique”, which was a bachata group with a melodious and different sound. They later got signed to a major record label where he got the chance to write and produce their first album. That became his first work as a producer. “Unique” suddenly started getting a buzz in NYC and in many other cities and many artists became interested in working with him. He then met a group of 3 young guys who are now known as “24 Horas” and produced their album titled “Los Inolvidables” “24 horas”, “Mami Dame Un Beso”, and “Me Dejaste Solito”, were a few of the songs produced. Because they had the same manager, he happened to meet an up and coming artist now known as Prince Royce who he produced his entire self-titled debut album. Prince Royce’s album is one of his most successful works till date resulting in a Premio Lo Nuestro for producer on the track “El Amor Que Perdimos.”
D’lesly then chose to part ways with the group and become a solo artist. His solo album “Cosas Del Destino” was produced, arranged, and interpreted by himself and Prophex, with whom he has established a producing company called “Swagger Music.” We can expect many hits and a successful career from D’lesly as he and J & N Records takes his producing skills and talent to create a different sound of music filled with many of the music influences that were induced in him as a child. D’lesly. What you see is what you get. Enjoy!
